As you are aware, in school this year we are having a real focus on developing reading for pleasure. As part of this the children have been asked to take part in a reading challenge.
They have been given a reading passport explaining the 8 challenges further which they should have bought home with them today. They are welcome to do as many or as few as they like but we are expecting every child to take part.
Please ensure they bring their passport into school regularly as teachers are encouraging them to discuss their reading with other children. The challenge finishes after Christmas so they have the Christmas holidays to enjoy reading and complete as many as they wish. All completed passports need to be returned to school by Monday 6th January 2020.
The children are very excited about the challenge and we hope you can share in their enthusiasm also at home. We have brand new books in school and they are welcome to borrow whichever ones link with the challenges. They can also seek recommendations from teachers and each other.
