Welcome to our brand new Reading for Pleasure blog.
This year Bells Farm is involved with a very exciting project to encourage children to enjoy reading. Research shows that children who read for pleasure achieve better than children who do not. We believe every child has the ability and the right to be a reader and we are very pleased to be involved in the project.
Over the year we will be doing many new and different things with reading in school to encourage the children to become readers. We hope you will support us with many of these as we work to develop a reading community.
You may have noticed our wonderful library has been given a lot of care and attention by Mrs Butterworth. The children are really enjoying using it and we hope to make more of it throughout the year.
Children are now able to access books outside at playtimes. I am sure you can see from the photos they really are enjoying it!
We have also introduced Eric into all classes:
Every class has 10-15 minutes of choice reading time every day. Sometimes this involves using the library, reading with a partner or just enjoying a book on our own.
Please keep an eye on this blog and newsletters throughout the year as we will be holding many exciting events and challenges. Be sure to let us know if you have any ideas too!
